BIO

John Torres is a songwriter, recording artist and vocalist who has been making music for close to 30 years. A native of Los Angeles, California, his work has spanned a wide range of genres and styles, from indie, folk, and singer-songwriter, to opera and musical theater. As a songwriter, John has received numerous honors including a John Lennon Songwriting Award, an L.A Stage Alliance Ovation Award, and nominations by the American Independent Music Awards and Stage Raw Theater Awards. In addition, his music has been featured on many T.V. shows and networks (such as MTV, ABC, NBC, TLC), as well as multiple short and feature length films. 

John has written over 300 songs to date, and has produced and co-produced hundreds of tracks, for both his own music, as well as for other artists.

He’s the founding member of the indie folk band, Towers of Temple City.

In 2019 Torres co-composed the music and lyrics to the now award winning musical theater adaptation of the 1980 Warner Bros film “Bronco Billy", which was nominated for 9 L.A. Stage Raw Awards (Including Original Music), and won 2 Ovation Awards (Including Lyrics/Composition for an Original Musical). In 2024, Bronco Billy also made its West End debut at London’s Charing Cross Theater.

John proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Bresee, a non-profit organization in the heart of Los Angeles, dedicated to fighting poverty by empowering youth and families with the skills, resources and relationships necessary to thrive.
